Briefing on Southern Ontario Development Agency
On Friday May 29th I attended a briefing on SODA in Toronto. This is a new agency created by the Feds. They have promised two billion dollars over five years for economic development in southern Ontario. We are hoping that southwest Ontario will benefit largely from this windfall. Olympic Torch in Walkerton
On December 28th, 2009 the Olympic Torch will be carried by several through Walkerton. A committee has been putting together an array of exciting activities to mark this very special occasion. Lots of competitions and fun has been planned. Mark Monday December 28th on your calendar.

Mayor Charles J. Bagnato granted Merit Award by The Federation of Agriculture
Lorne Underwood, Bruce County Federation of Agriculture President awards Mayor Charles J. Bagnato the Merit Trophy for his work as the Chair of the County Agriculture Tourism and Planning Committee (ATP) in which over $100,000.00 has been earmarked to be distributed to farmers yearly for completing environmental projects sanctioned by Bruce County.

Inside the Mayor’s Office
The Mayor’s Office
The Mayor’s Office is located within the Municipal Office. A single storey building, physically, it’s situated on Scott Street in downtown Walkerton and is a spot that is rented from the Federal Government, Canada Post who shares the same building.

Judge Dennis O’Connor at the Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC)
Justice Dennis O’Connor was honored at the WCWC first annual forum for water industry personnel . We picked up Holly in Acton Easter Sunday, 2000. She had been bred for the three years before she became family due to the fact that she was a prize winning show dog and was considered one of the best. But lucky for us she had white pups. The kennel was strictly interested in silver toys.

New Doctor for Walkerton

Dr. Shazia Ambreen is seen here signing a four year contract with the Municipality of Brockton. Mayor Bagnato signed for the Municipality. Dr. Shazia will start Septeber 1, 2009. Hilel Syed, her spouse, will act as a consultant for the Doctor Recruitment team. Brockton welcomes warmly Dr. Shazia, her husband, Hilel, and their two children to our community.
